Let me share a few things about us. My name is John Shar, owner and operator of Above All Tile & Stone, your trusted, family-owned bathroom remodeling and tile installation company serving Minneapolis and the Twin Cities Metro Area. Founded in 2007, our business was built on generations of hands-on experience in tile setting, bathroom renovations, and shower remodeling.
Long before launching our own company, we gained deep experience working with other local tile contractors across Minneapolis. Tile installation and remodeling have been part of our family trade for decades, passed down from fathers and uncles who taught us the craft from a young age. I started learning the trade at 14 — summers were spent rolling out drop cloths, carrying tools, cutting tile, and keeping the job site clean — all while soaking in real-world skills.
By the time I graduated high school, I had already developed professional-level experience in bathroom renovation, with a passion for detailed tile installation and custom shower builds. That attention to fine detail led us to specialize in high-quality tile work — a craft we take immense pride in.
As our company grew, we recognized the frustration many homeowners faced when coordinating multiple contractors for a single bathroom remodel. That’s why Above All Tile & Stone expanded into full-service bathroom remodeling, offering a complete, streamlined experience from demolition to final detail. Today, we handle everything from tile showers and waterproofing to flooring, bathroom demolition, shower repair, and more — all under one trusted name.

We prioritize the comfort of our clients in their homes by meticulously laying out drop cloths from the entrance to the work area each morning and ensuring everything is neatly rolled up upon completing our tasks for the day. Our commitment to quality, safety, and reliability guarantees that you can trust in the work we perform.
While it is understood that completely eliminating remodeling dust is impossible, we take extensive measures to minimize it. Our teams conduct all tile and lumber cutting outside your residence. The bathroom’s intake air vent is adequately covered, and an air mover is strategically placed in the bathroom window to expel any dusty air outdoors. All mortar and grout mixing is performed outside to further reduce dust levels.
